I took it yesterday

Hello Pals,

I just took the test yesterday. It was really a easy format for me after doing USMLE World's Qbank and taking NBME test. I found USMLE questions getting really unpredictable.Lots of questions look like taking an IQ test. Got questions from same concepts several times. Specially obesity, diabetes, diarrhea, schizoaffective disorders, dehydration,SIADH,drug reactions etc. I answered lot of questions just by guessing. The NBME test was very easy compared to USMLE. I did not have a single reputation from the NBME. There were so many question with almost same wording from USMLE World Q-Bank.The questions with images were the most easiest one.I got Chronic Subdural Hematoma CT,Inferior MI ECG,Rheumatoid Arthritis Hand Deformity, Psoriasis,Viral Pericarditis ECG,NF-2 Skin.

Last of all, I'm not satisfied with my test. I scored 540 in NBME and 77th Percentile in USMLE World. Only The God knows what's gonna happen?

Don't worry so much about it. I felt the same way after my exam, but you'll probably end up with a score that is close to your NBME score. Congratulations for getting it over with.

I used the Kaplans Notes, Videos and CMDT. Please try to be master on all the concepts given in the Kaplan's Notes and Use USMLE World QBank.

Kaplan

Here's a concern,

I read through many of the Kaplan books/videos. I found that it was very hard to stick with them because the books pretty much have the 'know everything you've ever come across' theme. For example, the psych/ethics/biostats book.....they cover just about every topic regarding statistics....and get into quite a bit of detail about it. I understand hard work is involved but anyone can tell you to know as much as possible and shove it in a binder and sell it. Then there are people who brag about Crush Step 2...you can cover the entire sugery section in no time at all where it would take days to cover it in Kaplan....doesn't seem like enough in Crush. Is there a happy medium in there? I definitely think USMLEWORLD is great..just seems scary to just use it alone.....but Kaplan is just overwhelming. I was watching the cardiac videos with that real character..AF, but I realized after over 2 hours of videos he'd covered about 2 or 3 concepts....just wasn't moving along. Anyone care to shed some light on this?

Stick w/ first Aid man

Hey dude,
I did First Aid and Crush but I feel that First Aid is good enough but I used Crush as a review and there is some stuff that First Aid doesn't have. I used the Surgery notes part of Kaplan and it was good. I enjoyed it. I really enjoyed reading it. It was interesting for me. Do things that are in the Kaplan notes that are not really well covered in First Aid and Crush. Forget Biostats and crap. Ethics okay but biostats just read it out of First Aid or Crush and that is good enough.

God bless.
