510 points Everyone should sign this!
510 points It will not happen in that form. It was tried in many States, including NY and NJ and it failed hopelessly. There are programs that allow foreign medical graduates (ECFMG certified or not) to pursue an accelerated program to become nurse practitioners, and this has worked well. Such a curriculum may be acceptable in the case of PAs. The problem, in general, is the initial training orientation, the medico-legal issues, and current State legislation.
Also, the National PA association and accrediting body are forcefully against it, for reasons including the image of the PA. In other words, if you can't make it as an MD, do the "lesser" and try your luck at the PA exam!!!!! What does this say about PAs?
