    Advice to pass boards

    Advertisements

I am an IMG from off-shore school. I can't pass the boards step1 or 2. I took kaplan and pass program and the score still the same 146-162. I worked and borrowed money to pay for travel to these prep sites and no result. I am tired of failing again. can anyone help, suggest. Thanks

You'll have to tell us a little bit more than that to help. There's no magic answer we can give. The best bet will be to be honest with yourself and try to figure out where in the process you're screwing up, ie is it your preparation? do you know the material? Do you know the material in a way that you can manipulate it? Do you do enough practice questions? Are you getting what you need from the practice questions? Are you freezing up on the tests? Etc.

Yes there is hope. It happened to me before for the following reasons:
    1. Not focused when studying
    2. Too much worrying about expenses
    3. Not studying on a schedule and sticking to it
    4. Wanting to do it in a hurry

The solution is take time to come up with a schedule that would allow you not only to read (passive study), but also to do a lot of questions (active study). You cand take the exam successfully if you give yourself time to digest and really absorb well what you are reading. Instead of taking the exam 3-4 times a year and failing every time due to inefficient prep, you can schedule it right and take it only once, but a successfully. Please see my other post and check out the schedule that would actually give you the chance to do it right and be able to apply for the match next year. Trust me, I learned the hard way. Now you can do it, do not get discouraged. Good luck.

    This is to Iman99****

and other "pet program pushers" your only reason for being here is to "sell" your product, get a life and get out of here. Why don't you beat your chest somewhere else, on a street corner in Campaign IL or Erbana or someplace like that. why do you have slither around here, and peddle your stuff, there is ""nothing"" sincere about your message's it's all trying to "Make Money" off of vulnerable people. You guy's are on every site..... Predators....

Or just sign you name Iman99-pass program, the 99 is just more of the typical ** you people blow out of your orifices.

Dear friend I think the best way to pass the Boards is to schedule your time,
First: write down the study material u wanna read for exam, and put them on a timetable (be realistic in that) (I think Kaplan and its Dvds +B&W+UW is more than enough)
Second: Do questions as much as you can and read all the explanation even if you got the it right (the best resource in my opinion is usmleworld it worth to spend money on it)
Third: as you finish 75% of the study material you can subscribe for the exam (try not to postpone it)
Forth: be confident and remember that we fall to get up stronger
Hopre that all your effort will paid
By the way if someone failed in boards does that mentioned in his certification (if he passed in the second time)?

Exclamation Best Review for 2CK !!!

This is how I scored over 220 in step 2CK:

I would recommend, study for 2-3 weeks about 80-100 hrs total: (Best time to take it is after you have 2 weeks "off" rotations, or after you are done with the cores !!!

    1. Read First Aid for 2CK
    2. Read Boards and Wards
    3. Practice 1000Q any Qbank will do !!

    That's plenty........

    First Aid for 2CK:
Amazon.com: First Aid for the USMLE Step 2 CK (First Aid USMLE): *** **, Vikas Bhushan, Julia Skapik: Books

    Boards and Wards:
Amazon.com: Boards and Wards: A Review for the USMLE, Steps 2 and 3: Carlos Ayala, Brad Spellberg: Books

Most people "over study", then lose stamina and arrive tired for the exam....not smart......!!

    Cheers
