OK here is what I have found out:

1- It depends which NBME you took because in theory NBME 1 is the easiest NBME2 is the one that looks more like the exam and NBME3 is the hardest one.

2- Some people say that the magic number to have at least a passing score in step2 ck is 450 wile others say that actually 400 is the magic number to at least pass the exam.

I have seen people with 450 in NBME 1 that have passed the exam in the high 70's and others that have failed in the 73-74 range.

I would love to know what other people think. The problem is that for Step 2 CK people tend not to be so supportive like when you are taking Step1.

I ask about people scoring a 400 or 440 in NBME1 What can they expect in the real exam?

Depending ion the response I get I might even make this a stiky.

Thumbs up

Thanks for your reply, that's the problem I have, people take a lot of NBME exams for step 1 but for step 2 almost nobody shares valuable info, I did NBMEs for step 1 and my score was 7 points higher than predicted, would be nice if someone could give more accurate info, my goal is to ace the exam, NBMEs were useful for that in step 1, I would like to have the numbers to be a little less worried, thanks, I'll do forms 2 and 3 then.

I GOT THIS:
Quote:
All CBSSA assessments are equated to the same scoring scale. The initial research that demonstrates that under certain circumstances there is a moderate relationship between performance on CBSSA and subsequent Step 1 was done using the CBSSA Forms 1 and 2. However, since Forms 3 and 4 are equated to the same scoring scale, performance on any of the four assessments may have a moderate relationship to performance on Step 1. The NBME does not warrant that any individual performance on these self-assessments will predict performance on Steps 1 or 2 CK and cautions participants against making any predictive inferences.

Sincerely,
****** on behalf of NBME Self Assessment Services
If anyone wants to make another question to the NBME about the step2 Ck you are welcome to do so and AND post what you got here.

Frankly, you are right. People dont comment as much on step 2 as in step 1 because, people think step 2 is not as impt. or they feel that step 2 is EASIER than step 1. One dean told me that after the introduction of the comp in my school, the step one first time pass rate rocketed to the high 80's, but he told me the step two pass rate was low and he did not know why....

NBMEs were useful for me. For instance, I wanted a 99. After some casual reading, I foolishly thought I did enough to get it, but after a diagnostic, I was disappointed with my score. So I studied more rigorously, and did the other 2 NBME's with NBME 3 finally reaching my goal. After that, i took the exam which was within 5 of my NBME score on the 3 digit scale, and right on the money on the 2 digit scale. Due to variation and SEM, the two digit score is the more accurate.

oh BTW, my general impression is that, step 2 is easier to pass, but just as hard, if not harder than step one to do well.

It seems that actually if you score a 450 in NBME 3 or NBME 2 you have at least a 3 digit score of 190 = passing.
