Question about NBME.....

Hey guys! I have a question....has anyone taken any of the practice tests for step 1 from the nbme website? I was wondering if you know what a good score is because it tells you that the mean is 500 with a standard deviation of 100, so I'm not sure what that means since the whole thing is out of 800 but the test was 200 questions?! What if you got a score of 450? Its all so confusing!? Can anyone shed some light on this? I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

a score of 450 is .5 SD below the mean...that would roughly equate to a score of 205 on the real test...those tests are pretty good, but i scored over 500 on my second test from the NBME site, and wound up with a 192 on the real test. that is not such a close correlation, but it did mean i passed.
