% IMG who pass USMLE step 1?
Hello!!
I am very happy i found this site!! :P . I am an international medical graduated in 2003. i got married and moved to USA some months ago. I have been studying by my own and i'll start KAPLAN center preparation next month (here in hawaii they do not have the live one). I plan to take the step 1 in february. I really REALLY need several months to prepare because i forgot lot of basic sciences already  (specially biochemistry!!)I apreciate all suggestions, books to review, etc. Does anybody know the % of foreign medical graduates who pass the USMLE step 1? scores? Just to have an idea how hard it is  Is anybody from Latin America studying for step 1 ??? Thanks to all that post suggestions, etc !! Last edited by Lorena; 03-06-2006 at 04:38 PM. pass rates
i think there is a post here somewhere with a link to the official site i can't find it but look around. the overview is that overall pass rates for imgs are around 45-65% but this includes schools in mexico, europe, etc. caribbean schools that cater to US citizens seem to fare better with ross quoting a 86% and AUC 81% first time passing. i'm not sure about the other ones. good luck

Hi Lorena I'm from Mexico living in Arizona . The step one is really hard you need to get a routine and stick to it I recommend you to buy the First Aid you must have this book and good luck in your studies.

pass rates
1st time pass rates for all fmgs is around 65%. 1st time for u.s. students is >90%. the numbers that different foreign schools give you are unofficial and there is absolutely no proof that they're accurate. but the numbers i quoted are the only official numbers available and can be seen on the usmle website.

re.
the first time pass rate for us imgs is also around 60%...so, either some schools don't pass very many at all, or some schools are exagerrating the performance of the students.
this information is in first aid for the usmle, in the front section of the book. don't have it with me, cause i took the stupid test already 8) but someone should prob look the specific percentages up and post them.
