in ny there is a time period of 7 years
it is my understanding that you can not retake a step after you pass. check the nbme site though. i think the 7 year period thing has to do with taking a step 7 years from graduating from med school? (if foreign)

yes, u can retake ur steps, I am in exactly the same position as ur in, all u have to do is to write a letter to individual state Medical boards telling them of ur situation & tell them that u would like to do residency in their state & hence either except ur scores & allow u to take step 3 or give u permission to repeat ur step 1 & 2. they will send u a letter granting u permission for retake, & then allu need to so is fill out an application & submit that along with the letter, there u have it !!!!! its simple.
yes , of course you can. Because, in some states to get licensed you have to take all three steps within a seven year period. So they will give you a letter stating that , which you can send it to ecfmg, with your application and then take your steps again!!
