Hi Guys I am from Ghana and after 5 months of hard studying with limited resources I scored 90 but now I have lost all my appetite to study for step2 cause I am hearing from a lot of people for an IMG a score less that 95 is not good, could someone explain me my chances to get a residency with this score for Internal Medicine. Thanks for your suggestions.

I plan on slipping by with an 80 on both steps and I think that has to be good enough... lol

I think your chances to get into a residency depend where (what state, hospital,) you want to do the residency. Your scores of course are extremely important and a 90 in step 1 is a very good score -congratulations!-
My suggestion to you is : Don't listen to people who want to discourage you.
Study hard, do your best and i guarantee that the results will be satisfactory.
Take one step at a time, right now it is studying for step 2 so cheer up and go for it!

I, as a very old but not disappointed IMG, absolutely agree with Lor and assure you that your score is great and that so many guys have been successful in finding very good positions with lower scores than yours. Tighten your belt (not your tie please!) and go for step-2 with your head well upwards. GOOD LUCK

I've no idea personally as I've to take all steps. But your score is
gr8. I've relatives and family friends who signed prematch this yr, one
of them got 85/90, other got lower score like 77/82, 79/85,
82/85------------ so you've a very good chance. Do voluntary work after
taking exams.
