without a doubt kaplan is the best review course. they have different options avail depending on your time and budget. but there is no substitute for kaplan in my opinion.

    really?

a few people who just took step 1 told me that kaplan was a load of crap exept for the bichem b/c it's the only one that integrates bichem and genetics like in the exam. i've actually heard the pass program is good.

People will tell you anything. Kaplan is probably the best -end of story!! But you have to do the homework,Kaplan is not Med School!! Their Biochem professor had a heavy accent I barely understood him, I thought the physio prof. was the best with very clear diction. As far as Pass, youel, Falcon Good Luck.

    Pass Program

I think that it really depends on what level you think you're in. I'm currently in the Pass program and I'd have to admit that the course is very good (especially since the course only lasts a month). I've taken Kaplan's Center Prep and all the videos did was put me to sleep. In my opinion, Kaplan was very impersonal in how they deal with "clients". Dr. ******* (the head coordinator of the program) really inspires the students with his experience as well as letters from his past students (students from a month or two back, not from the ones who passed five years ago) who thank him for helping them pass. In addition, you get private tutoring at least 2 times a week from an M.D. to help point out your weakness and strengths, as well as show you how to take tests (my practice test score jumped by 10% just by them pointing out that I get too stressed out when I look at a question). Also, there are students in my Step 1 class who are preparing for Step 2 or 3 because they know how well Dr. ******* integrates everything. Some of the Step 2 and 3 students give their "testimonial" about how the program has helped them. However, along with the good come the bad: Because it's such a short program, you WILL NOT cover everything. This is detrimental to subjects such as Pharm where you literally have to know every MOA of every drug. Also, class schedule is rough: class usually starts at 7 and ends by 4-5p.m., but if you have tutoring after class, you may not be done until 7p.m. Overall though, I think that this is a very good program for "average" students or for students (like me) who can't get over the Step 1 hurdle. Hope this helps.

    Check Falcon Reviews

I took Falcon review and it was really good and cost effective. Kaplan is good, but too expensive. Falcon was made by people that worked with Kaplan and Arc Ventures. For about $2500 you get six weeks of live lecture with all materials and including room at a hotel with two meals a day a ALL YOU CAN DRINK COFFEE!

trying to save money will reflect on ur score

just like with most other things, u get what u pay for with board review courses. there r many out there that r cheaper and can help boost ur score. but few will argue that there is anything better than kaplan. i think the extended prep is the best but its also the most expensive. there r cheaper options from kaplan like the 3 or 7 week live lectures, the webprep, video lectures. theyre not as good as the extended prep but i think theyre better than going thru most other programs.

dont try to cut corners when it comes to the boards. step 1 scores r one of the most important indicators 4 residency. just ask urself if you'd rather save money or get a really good score? sure u can get a good score with a cheaper course or without a course at all, but a really good course will help increase ur chances. just my opinion.
