Many students ask us "what is the best study method you recommend?" Our staff often agrees with the 9 a.m - 6 p.m. study day. This provides several advantages: In the early morning, Norepinephrine levels are high and Serotonin levels are low, allowing for efficient learning and memory retention. During lunch time, Serotonin levels are higher and Norepinephrine levels are low, which accounts for afternoon "laziness" often experienced by many students.
However, study methods differentiate among students. When preparing for the USMLE examinations however, the best practice is to simulate actual testing conditions during your preparation. This makes a more disciplined student and offers a greater advantage for a higher score on the USMLE exams.
Please share your feedback about study methods among medical students, so collectively we can maximize their learning experience and future success.
