    Did you know?

I'm opening this thread in terms for educational purposes; particular for USMLE Step 1. Everyone is welcome to write, share, comment, and/or give a thought in terms of Medical Education. Again this thread is meant for MEDICAL EDUCATION - NOT meant for thrashing or bashing each. This is for Medical Education Thread and I'm asking to keep it as clean as it suppose to be. When someone wants to start a new topic, it would be a good idea to start with "Did you know?" and from there, start discussing. This is meant to HELP people around for Step 1. All the best!!!!!!

can someone please help with this question

A women with leiomyomata uteri undergoes an experimental treatment that involves instillation of an embolizing agent directly into the vessels that feed the leiomyomata. During this procedure in order to reach the involved vessels which of the following is the most direct course of the catheter after entering the femoral artery?
    a) aorta - gonadal a - uterine a
    b) ext iliac a - internal iliac a - uterine a
    c) internal iliac a - inf vesical a - uterine a
    d) internal iliac a - sup vesical a - uterine a

im not sure between c or d

I believe answer should be C. I could not find an image that includes the uterus, however the inferior vesical artery should directly lie across the uterus thus be the most direct route.

I have a good bit of the Kaplan lecture videos downloaded and I was wondering how has it helped you guys in studying for the Step? Is it just an overview of the Basic Sciences and something you do in the end to review just the basic concepts or are they as in depth as you need to go for the Step?

I kinda feel they're good enough for Windsor exams but the Step is much.

Again, I'm just doing it for physio. The step focuses more or Path, right? Haven't seen those videos yet so maybe I don't have the full view on how useful they really are.

I honestly regret this one as a big one. I have been reading and reading so much and now I found out that it it was a big mistake. I should have done questions and questions over and over again. So basically I wasted a lot of time. However, the good news is that I haven't taken my STEP 1 as of yet. I will be honestly happy for any feedback, advice, and the right approach of dealing this Step 1. Please note: I have not taken STEP 1 and I wasted a lot of time by reading this and that.
Based on all the info I have received from people who have passed the step 1 reading is not a problem. Reading is needed & you should do it with questions. Taking notes from the qbanks is a really good tip I got from someone on VMD.

An advisor from a qbank or a review course (I can't remember) stated that you should test yourself every day on what you have read. So if you have read cardio and embryo test yourself on those subjects. It seems like you are on the write path. When you get the chance you should take a free diagnostic exam at Kaplan to see where you are. I hope this info helps. Im tryna perfect my study method as well.

    Did you know?

Aortic Stenosis → Exertional syncope → Systolic ejection type, crescendo decrescendo murmur → Starts after S1 → Ends before S2. Intensity of Aortic Stenosis murmur → Proportional to the magnitude of left ventricle to aorta pressure gradient during systole.
