Kaplan lecture books plus cocktail of others?

I'm starting my MS1 year and am thinking about picking up my Step 1 books to get a strong start to licensing. I'm trying to get into a very competitive field, so I need all the score I can get. Is using both the Kaplan lecture series with a cocktail of other books (brs phys, micro made, etc) rather overkill for this test? Hoping for a 240+.

It all depends on your ability to understand certain concepts. Micro made..., brs physio, FA is a must have. Just remember that all the books out there are just to help you understand/memorize, the material are nothing different.

Just stick with a couple books and see how it goes. Don't buy too many b/c you wont have enough time to read it.

if you are just starting MS1, hold off on those books as it wont help much as you dont have much foundation yet and it wont "stick" in your head as easily. when you have more classes and knowledge under your belt, things will click better and you will see the BIG picture better.

for now just concetrate on class and learn the stuff well. get the FA book to go along with the classes
