    Tommy...please help !!!!

Dear Tommy...I feel at the end of the rope; failed step 1 twice ...put already 2 years of my life for it and feeling that I'm going nowhere ...I am an old medical graduate in my mid 30's...I am enroled already in an step 2 Kaplan live lectures course and wanted to take a different approach in studying for step 2 but now that i found out that i failed again step 1 don't know what to do next... Should i switch for the step 1 lectures and do it again? Should I stick to step 2 and than do step 1 at the end ?...Or should I just quit usmle and move on with my life, which by the way is a total disaster right now ??? ...Do you have any advise for a desperate soul like myself ????....I am not dumb, I did a residency already in my country ... right now I feel like dying...

don't be disheartend ......make the best / wise descision

when i read ur post it sounds like as if someone is narrating my story. Don't give disheartend. Please make your descision wisely. He's right. you should assess yourself and ask if u r ready for step 2?

I'm currently doing my step 1 prep for the 3 rd tme instead of doing step 2 cuz I know i need to make my basics stronger so that I'll be able to prepare myself for step 2.

    u can email me fg69@yahoo.com

    g'luck to you

lots of prayers for you and everybody

    step 2 before step 1 ??

Thank you Pilotmd for the nice words...yes, indeed I am really troubled, but after 2 days of "brainstorming"I feel like I just can't give up!!! Is it good or bad...just God knows...I was today in the step 2 class and there was this great teacher which really kept my attention alert for 8 houres and what i feel right now is that I wanna be a DOCTOR again !! which I didn't felt when studying for step 1...maybe this is A BOOST in starting all over... I,m still frightened and descouraged that i can not do it...but starting all over with step 1 is just to painfull right now !!
Anybody had similar experiences ?? Anybody did step 2 before step 1 succesfully ???

    Hi ana

Ana, Cheer up. You are defintely not old and it is just a matter of time that you'll reach your dream. I think whether you will take step2 first depend on your clinical strength. I did see people with years of clincal experince past step2 first before step1. I think step1 is the toughest of all steps. When I attend one Kaplan seminar, Kaplan staff adivice is to take step1 first and don't reverse the order. I think the best way is to consult Kaplan staff about this and assess your clinical strength by doing some usmle step2 qestions and see how you do.Gook luck to you.
