Usmle Step 1 Timing

Can anybody help me with appropriate timing to take STEP 1?
I am preparing to take step1 in June 2008. And I think I will get results after 3 or 4 weeks probably in July. Is that a convenient timing for residency matching, clinical rotation etc.etc
I found somebody gave the answer somewhere but could not find it again.
I would appreciate any help which is direct answer or any link.
