Please do NBMEs EARLY

I've been reading a lot of people posting how they just take the first NBME within a few short weeks of their expected test date and start freaking out about how low they scored. Everyone should be taking the first NBME early on in their studies to see where they stand. The NBMEs are a tool to help diagnose how you will perform on the real thing!

You should use it to focus on your weak spots, then after some more studying, take another one. Repeat again with your weakest distributions, and then take another one. Repeat the procedure. By the time you've taken all of them, hopefully some time before you take the real USMLE, you should have a strong understanding of exactly where you stand, what you need to do, and whether to postpone or take the exam.

So please! Take the NBMEs seriously as a learning tool, and not as a last minute evaluation!

one of my buddies was telling me they got rid of forum 1 and 2 and added 11 and 12. What have you noticed has been added to 11 and 12.

Also i found that NBME's are the closest thing to the real exam. I would tell people to do NBME and not world assessment, That is what i did for step 1 and 2

I have new husband who has fail in step 1 and this advice is very good for him as he is very depressed he is older fmg and has lost much time on steps

An nbme never hurts, take one of those and then UW CHEERS!!!

good advice stateofequilibrium, am done with my USMLE 1 and made it fine, NBME were the biggest help ever , yes I did all of them and I agree fully with stateofequilibrium use them not only as evaluation tools but as study tools ....means do it as you study ...not after you study..the concepts behind each single question in NBME is the exact concept asked in the actual exam...so use it as a study tool ...as a matter of fact a very effective study tool that realy works.
you dont have to buy it ....i have found it answered and explained in a site ...but dunnno if is ok to post here a link ...any way if you want the link drop me a line ...meanwhile ...can someone tell me if is ok to post the link here!!!!! am doing step 2 ck now and i need study group if intersted drop me a line and as well if you need any advice in step 1 ..let me know.

i had to take many NBME, when i finally got passing scores on them i was allowed to take my test. I got really close to what my NBME said i would. I would suggest taking nbme
