    Failed.

I have just recently found out that I failed on my first attempt for usmle step one. I wanted to get everyone's honest opinion.

I want to get into Internal Med or Peds and was wondering if I am out of the running for these residencies. I know many of the more competetive residencies require you to pass on your first attempt. Is this true for a good IM program as well? Is there hope in even matching now that I have failed the first time?

I don't believe that's so for IM or peds. Though always best to check with the programs you're interested in.

I agree with SOE, just try to see what are the requirements of the friendly IMG programs.

Just try to see on what you can improve, and start your preparation again to ace the test.
also you can read tommy concept related to this part of the preparation
