    This connects with my previous concept:

    KEY!

    Why did you give her Ganciclovir and not Acyclovir? And if she was resistant, why did Foscarnet work????

    well

    ganciclovir IS phosphorlyated like acyclovir, but it LOVES CMV DNA polymerase (MOA). Foscarnet worked because it did not need viral kinase activation!!!!! (resistence issue)
