step 1 passing score rising???

is it true that the usmle people r rising the step 1 passing score to 190 from jan 1st ???`07
& is it true that u can`t take step 1 in the first 15 days of jan ???

u can take step1 in the beginning of jan, but most likely these spots are already filled.

the council is meeting to talk about the step1 passing score, and the change will be implemented for all students testing on jan1 and past...

but doesn`t the ecfmg has to let us know before hand?

ECFMG has nothing do with the test.....if youre really concerned that the passing is going from a 182 to a 190, youre not ready

This will raise the bar a bit higher. So I would suggest you study harder...

I went to usmle.org and there is no mention of increasing the pass level for step 2. Also, where are people getting this new passing score of 190? The last increase was a three point increase from 179 to 182. I would expect the new pass score would be around 185. A 8 point increase seems like quite a large increment.

Doesnt mean the test will get harder.....the test changes every single year to remove "easy" questions and to add experimental questions
