There are four NBME tests take them just like you would the USMLE test. 50 Questions times blocks. You will pay $45 per test. Do them all. If you have studied all 800 questions on the four tests - them you will get a skewed result. Normally most people have not seen all 800 questions. So one or more of the tests will have a positive predictive value for you. Also do the USMLE 50 release questions tests. These will also have predictive value and give you a good preview of the test. If your score on say two of the NBME test is less than passing. Then you need long time to prep.
If you have done just a couple of Kaplan blocks and are doing 74% taking them in random, 50 question timed blocks. You are on your way. I think their total q-bank is something like 2,000+ questions. If you have done less 500 then I would suggest you do a lot more questions and work your weak areas based on the results of the NBME.
