EXTREMELY important, please explain with details

    I thinks this just,:

    Change in “inactivity timeout” function:
The NBME test delivery software (FRED) is currently configured so that the Unauthorized Break screen appears if no action (e.g., mouse click) occurs during an examination for two minutes. Examinees receive a warning message, similar to the one below, 30 seconds before the Unauthorized Break screen appears due to inactivity.
Beginning in August 2006, over a period of approximately eight weeks, this function will be reset so that the length of inactive time to generate the Unauthorized Break screen will increase to five minutes. The warning message will still appear 30 seconds before the Unauthorized Break screen appears.

Basically it means that the computer (which has no brain) thinks that you have taken a break and forgot to tell it. In reality, you probably don't know the answer to the question, fallen asleep, don't know what to do.... whatever... the deal is that there is no activity and the above box is a friendly reminder to do something or you will "locked" out and probably will have to sign back in...

it's another way for the USMLE to make sure that you either answer the question within a certain time OR to move on to the next question....

That function is a pain. I got logged out during one of my calculations and had to scramble to log back in. Seeing a red screen saying that you are taking an unauthorized break during the exam sucks. Spent the rest of the exam moving the mouse just to avoid the timeout. Good that they changed the period. They must have gotten too many people getting logged out while they were doing their calculations.
