nbme
from what i have heard, nbme #2 is more accurate than #1. i'll say it like this... there are people who HAVE failed with a 400 nbme, and those who have PASSED with a 340. i'd say the person who got a 340 and passed had an okay understanding of basic sciences (relatively

nbme
one more thing... i've seen posts on here about answers to nbme questions. i strongly recommend skipping over these posts, don't even open them. if you read them, and then take your nbme exam, your will have a higher score, and a false sense of security.
sure, look at them after you've taken that particular nbme. #1 and #2 are the well known ones, i have no idea what correlations you'll see with #3 and #4. i recommend you take #1 about 2 months before the exam, really hammer any weak areas, and then take #2 within a week or so of the exam. it can be a huge confidence booster. many people go up 100 or more points in only 1 month, with a lot of study. if you take nbme #2 within a couple days of your USMLE, you will get that score, almost exactly, as long as you don't freak out. that's the purpose of it i think... to know where you stand, so come exam day, it's JUST LIKE CLOCKING IN YOUR 8 HOURS, and signing out, and you know what your score is b4 it comes in the mail. no sleepless nights for 4 weeks while you wait for your results.
