    can someone shed some light please

    can someone shed some light for me...

    i am scheduled to take my usmle step 1 exam on march 31, 2006 prior to beginning clinicals ............... if all goes well with clinicals set up properly when would i need to take by subsequent exams to qualify for the match

    would i be in match 2007 or 2008 if i still need to do clinicals???

    ***also my real question is i feel i am not as prepared to take this exam in a few days as my NBME was not as high as i would like if i wait till mid junewould i be in the same match if i were to take it this week march 31st as scheduled***

    Lets work this backward:

    You need to be ECFMG certified before you can start your residency. Therefore, no ECFMG certified no residency.

    You need to have your USMLE step 1, step 2 CK and CS, and graduate from your med school before you become ECFMG certified.

    You need to have your USMLE step 1 and step 2 CS before you can turn in your match list.

    It is best to finish all your core rotations before taking your step2. It is best to postpone your test if you are not ready. Step 1 is not a rate limiting step so it is okay to take it in June.
