Case: Pts.are 2 males, age 14, 13 named Beavis and Butthead. After a serious fight, both are rushed to a county hospital (they had no insurance, & parents are missing), after hemorrhagic shock from bleeding. At what hemoglobin level should you transfuse matched and typed blood? a) Tricky question, because you usually will be asked about Lactate Ringers and Normal Saline and 5% Dextrose. But, in this case, for a young “healthy” male, a hemoglobin under 7 is quite fearful.
