Thread: Failed Step 1 :( HELP!!

Hi, i was wondering if anyone could give me sum advice... i took my step 1 last year.. and failed it with a score of 112/75... .what am i gunna do??? where do i start?? i'm so scared and worried... i took Kaplan 4-7week course but that went over my head... shod i take the extended kaplan class?? + 6months of q-bank+video lectures+ golijan? what can i do in order to pass my second time around? Please if somebody could help me and put my mind to rest... shod i take the Pass program thas being talked bout??
I need to pass... .how do i do it? is it possible? how much more time do i need to raise that low of a score?

i think u got it wrong with your two piontscore it cannt possibly be 75 b/c 75 is passing well regarding your preparation when did u give it when last year have u studied since then kaplan video lectures is good but i believe they have a 3 month of video lecture also available which will give u at least two revisions since u have done all of this before and one revision should be done by self without videos and during all this course kaplan q bank should be attempted every day i find doing it subject wise hepls me understand the material better and apply the knowledge i learned and of course do not forget goljan he is the best do not do anything else for patho i found that doing patho after all the other subjects was better for me b/s then i understood all of goljans intergration of the material so i did not give my exam before but will give it in june which would have given me six months preparation but i fell u need 5 months max but if u want to make the next match then 4 months is enough but be studious if u do not have children or married i feel all this will be easy and u will pass next time but pray for me too okay

Yea.. thanks... ..i dont have any kids or nuttin to worry bout ummm..i did Golijan before.. i went thru it 3 times.. i guess i need to keep going over it...i gave it in May last year.. then i kinda looked at it... and now i'm going crazy studying agaim.. i started studying a couple of months bak in Jan and now thru to Oct ... i shod be ready by then... i will take extended prep... do you think i shod take anythin else?? like Pass program?? i kno i will try Q-bank

Just keep trying and do LOTS of questions!

forget the pass u are taking extended prep right so do not go mixing all this stuff or in the end like befor u will not get it and i am right to assume that u will take the exam in oct that means u are not trying for the next match well i hope u do better and be studious and maybe if u have some one to study with it willhelp u alot to just repeat what u learned it stays in your memory that way

I took Step 1 for first time in december. Got the score the last week of feb and failed. Studied for 5 months 10hrs/day, 7 days a week, took a review (not kaplan or pass program). Planing on taking test again at the end of may. Studying on my own now since 1 week of march. Would like to know if I'm doing the right thing by retesting so soon? How much time would I need to study for now considering I previously studied for 5 months? Will march, april, may be enough study time in order to pass?
Please, I seriously need your advice. I don't want to fail again.

hey...i'm a gurl... aite so my score that i failed with was a 112 and a 49 or sumthin... i dont remember the 2 digit number.. i think it was 49... i'm sinkin... i gotta get focused.. i found that the last time i took my step 1.. the first aid didnot help me as much as i thot it wod..
hmmm... i did q-bank in which i had a score of 67% the simulated usmle cd i had a score of like 50%...
anyone else got any advice for me?
