Our records indicate that you have already passed this Step or Step component....

So I took my test on Nov. 8 and got the results at midnight on Oasis and I PASSED!!!! I am so happy, this was my first attempt and I am a SMU student.

Here is what I did:

I went to the Falcon Program in Dallas Texas on Aug. 8 for their 6 week course.... very helpful, I doubt I would have passed without them.

after the course I came home and used my Falcon books and made a one month calendar of what subjects I would be studying on what dates and stuck to it... My studying habits would be about 12-14 hours a day with a half day of studying on Sunday's only... I would read the subject in the Falcon book, then read it in First Aid, then do questions on that specific subject... and on ocassion listened to some Goljan Audio

After one month of review, I did about a week of rapid review from First Aid....

Questions:

I used Usmleword and cant stress enough how CRUCIAL these questions were.... so similar that it was scary!!! I started the questions at a 48% avg and 3 days before my test I was at a 64% avg rate

I also did the Q Book Questions from Kaplan

Webpath pathology is a must for path

Finally I did the USMLE CD the night before the exam...avg around a 70% but the important part is I had 3 VERBATIM questions on the USMLE from the USMLE CD

I was a normal student at SMU in basic sciences, my grades never really lit a fire, but studying for Step 1 a fire lit in me to succeed and if you find that internal fire along with the mindframe that this test will not break you, then you have won half the battle as this test requires you to be mentally sharp.

The day before the test I had a half day of studying then went and watched a movie in the evening to relax... the morning of the test I ate a good breakfast and listened to quaranic scripture to relax my mind... in my bathroom mirror, on my TV, on my playstation I had a huge paper with the words "IF YOU FAIL TO PREPARE THEN PREPARE TO FAIL!!! NOV. 8TH, I WILL BE PREPARED" to remind myself of what I am working towards... I had a dream and I have passed through one hurdle, I hope this helps any of you all in a rut like I was

It is either gonna be Monday or Tuesday, that is when a lot of people end up getting their scores.
