Still confused!

Thanks for posting that link, DrFMG. But still, it doesn't really explain how one person can get a 233/94, and another can get a 228/95, other than to say the 3-digit score doesn't vary, whereas the 2-digit score does, depending upon the norms of test takers in that batch. They make it seem like the 3-digit score carries more weight. Comments?

I do not care if you or others believe it or not, it is not important, your opinion does not make any difference to me. I just tried to help others to figured out , to have an idea, posting my score as well as the other members that posted theirs. Everyone of us knows perfectly how much study, endless hours, sacrifice, money, no weekends, no hollidays.......took to get the score that some of us dare to post in this forum, in a sincere and honest way, at least I did it that way. So nobody has the right to question it in any way. I think it is very disrespecful and low. Definitely it is NOT COOL.
there's a lot of fire in those words for one who doesn't care.

i've followed 2 and 3 digit scores for a long time now... things have changed dramatically since 2007, and the new passing score of 185/75. i was slow on the uptake, but those "large discrepancies" between 2 and 3 digit scores do exist now, whereas before they did not.

please pardon my incredulity.

ok...to the best of my knowledge the three digit score stays standard but the passing grade for the exam varies with a standard deviation of 20 as stated by the usmle guys...so basically the passing score is not exaclty the same for every time the test is taken, hence the 2 digit score is reported so that the passing grade is always 75, so if exam1 the passing score is 175 and then in exam2 the passing score is 200 (in reality it isnt that big of a difference), due to the standard deviation, then your two digit score for both exams willl be 75 so that the score represents the pass grade for that exam, because they try to make it as if person A takes a exam today and scores 200 he would of known the same amount of information as a person who took it 5 years ago. All depends on the standard deviation they decide to use for the exam at hand. hope this helps...if i am wrong please feel free to correct me.

My Turn :)

Exam Taken: 3/27/07
Score Reported: 4/18/07
Received the score in the mail: 4/20/07

202/83

I know it's not that high, but I am so grateful to G-d that I passed this.

My UW score cumulative, unused, untimed was 52%
NBME Form 3 - 370 (3 weeks before the exam)
NBME Form 4 - 430 (1 week before the exam)

Thanks to this forum and all the people who are posting the questions and helping others out.

Good luck to all and G-d Bless you!!!

My turn

Got my score today 238/99!!

I took kaplan center based prep - excellent

i listened to Goljan (half of it ) - worth listening to it, but i used kaplan as my primary source for path

I didn't care for kaplan qbank as much .
Highly recommend UW !

So i studied from jan 2nd to mid march , followed by questions till 3 days before i took the exam. I used FA to review for the last 3 days and took the exam on april 5th ( i suggest using FA along with ur other material)

Kaplan Diag on jan 2nd - 60%
Kaplan q bank - 60% done - 66%
UW qbank - 70% done - cum 66%

USMLE CD - took it a month before - 84%cum

NBME form 1 - (in jan) - 410 (195)
NBME from 3 - 2 weeks before - 226
NBME form 1 (took it again the day before the exam) - 580 (236)

Kaplan simulation - 73%
