USMLE world is emerging as a great source for step one. A friend of mine used it and scored a 99. We are in need of a Randomized Control Trial (Double Blind!)

Need some Help guys!!!!
Congratulations to all who passed step 1. I will be completing my basic sciences in December 2007 from a carribean school. I am planning on taking off about 5-6 months to prepare for step 1. I know that some are taking Kaplan 6 weeks lecture right after completing basic sciences and then study on their own for a few months, and some are taking a few months off to study first and then take Kaplan and step 1. I was wondering which is the best route to take based on your experiences. I need to make a decision soon, so I can sign up for the program. Any suggestions or comments are greatly appreciated. Also any other suggestions regarding preparations for step 1 such as any particularr source or method that worked well for you guys.
THANKS.... |

What I did is (and it worked quite nicely for me) sign up for the course, got my books right away and I studied from the books for about 2 months, then I started the lectures. After they were over, I spend another 2 weeks going through everything once more, which if you got time, you can easily extend that for another 2 weeks.
I think that was a very good approach. After the lecture, I spent about 10 days reviewing everything, then I took NBME 1 and got a 700 (256). Took the real deal yesterday, so I'll just sit tight and wait for my result. Good luck. |

Here is my Step 1 score.
take exam august 2008. Score reported in september after 3 weeks exactly on one wednesday. NBME 3 206 1 month short NBME 5 236 1 week short Step 1 score 233/97. I think NBME 5 is comparable to actual scoring. |
