congratulation on passing step1. I myself is currently facing similar problems. I've got 167 in my first attempt. I completed qbank completely. also did qbook and i was consistently scoring 70-77% in both of them. i studied for 8 months. now i have again reorganized myself may be i extended my paper for too long and i cannot find anyother expalnation for my failure. I only want to ask u that does attempts matter in getting residency. ive heard a lot of people saying that theer r many institutes in states who consider attempts not score.

I have also heard of this, but then again, I have heard of those that got some really good residencies or the residency that they desired... after numerous attempts; It's difficult to tell.... I believe that it really depends on several factors... first is the USMLE board exams (1,2,3); basic/clinical sciences.. how well you did in them?; recommendation letters; Dean's letter; your desire for that particular residency.... just my opinion..

Just check your results from your test and look what were your weakness and start from there.

hey iam also in the same position where u r.even i got almost the same score as u got.last time i did kaplan q bank and q book.this time iam planning to do usmle world..i think for residency lot of other things also matters like greencard, good recommandation letters, contacts etc.i dont hv any of the things which i mentioned.but may be people like us need to do observationship or research.lot of people r like us but i know few people who got residencies even after they failed
