Arrow What are the Professors like for Year 1/2 of Basic Sciences? Are they MDs or PhDs?

I wanted to know how the professors are like for year 1 and 2 for preparation of USMLE step 1.

Are they qualified MDs or at least PhDs?

Do they prepare students well enough?

I hear in many schools the professors are like foreign, not MDs and difficult to understand.
I even hear many of them sometimes don't even show up to class and stuff like that.

Are professors at schools like Aureus, Avalon, AUA, MUA much better? Is the preparation for USMLE much better there?

    Thanks for the info guys.

I'm a former AUA student, did all 5 semesters for basic sciences there. The professors there were mainly from India and had either an MBBS or some other degree. The guy that taught Genetics/Biochem was a nursing PhD from Germany. So that should tell you something -- don't have super high expectations of faculty when going to the Caribbean. You gotta study hard on your own if you want to get passed Step 1. For what it's worth, very little of what I learned at AUA during basic sciences helped me pass Step 1.
