Thread: New Transfer into Eustatius MD3

Hey guys newbie to the island here and transferring in, 3 impt questions..

1.) Still having issues securing housing, and the options listed on the schools housing website are not that numerous (only 3 as of right now), does anyone else know of any other housing options that might be available that are not listed on the school's website?

2.) On the issue of transportation, I inquired about renting a car for long term and was told 750-800 per month...yeahhhh right...not that rich, anyway does anyone have any cars for sale and what kinda price range can I expect to find...Don't need anything fancy and not into the scooter thing

3.) Just confirmed my acceptance today ( i know very late), but WinAir is booked up until tuesday and I may not be able to get onto island until wednesday at the latest. Didnt want to miss the first 2 days of school. Is that going to be a major hurdle..I take it there is no audio/visual recording of the prof's lecture that can be reviewed at a later date , mind you admin did say it was okay to arrive up to a week late after classes have started but I want to mitigate that lateness as much as possible. Anyway my overall question is, IS it okay to miss the first 2 days and not feel like 10 weeks behind

Welcome to our school! The MD3 is a good group- you'll like them.

Re:

1. Housing may be a problem. The island is pretty full right now due to some work taking place on the island with tankers and oil. The school may want to place you in one of two hotels. The hotels are over $1,200 a month. If you do this, do this as a last resort and only sign on for 1 month. In that 1 month you can try to find other housing that isn't so expensive.

2. You shouldn't need a car; the island is small. Of course if you find an apartment on the other side of the island then you may want one.

3. 2 days won't be a problem. ROFL, there is NO recording of lectures. If you're really worried, I would perhaps recommend flying to SXM and try to do standby on WinAir.

thx for the reply.

1.) yes this housing shortage is crazy. Is the work at the terminal supposed to be ongoing for a while? Or will it be over soon as you mentioned more places might come available in a month's time?
2.) was looking for a car b/c in term of what is left for rent, the remaining units are located some ways from the campus and I was told by the housing co-ordinator that transportation would be required
3.) Is there an inside joke about recording of lectures....is that not permitted? Its not something I personally do, but it was available at my previous school and its nice to know that u can refer back to a specific segment of lecture in case u missed something.

How did u find MD 3...any particular things to look out for. Thanks in advance.

Any new transfers or new students for the upcoming Fall semester have questions or concerns? With the new Dean and new campus in the works current students are excited to help out with potential students.

Hey guys..same question..my previous school has recordings..i'm a transfer for jan 2013 into Med term 3...doc2B79..did u already start or are you starting jan 2013..I'm not sure what classes I'm in just yet...any input or advice regarding following classes: micro, behav, pd 3, path 1 in terms of books, etc
