Thread: 1st Term Books or kaplan Book set ??

sup guys,

what books should i get for term ? can i get them from the college or do i have to buy them online ?

or do u think i'm better of just buying the kaplan 8 book set and just use those all 5 semesters ?

Kaplan Bookset, Get it early, come to island and get the videos from other students. They are Amazing only for Boards. I've outlined what u need to do with them on my notes for step 1 (which u can find on this forum). Also make sure u get First Aid.
1st Sem: Netter's Anatomy + Kaplan should be enough, but for good measures u can add High Yelid Gross Anatomy. for histo I really dont know any good books, same goes for Public Health
2nd Sem: I would HIGHLY recommend u get Stars Physiology by Costanza ... THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS EVER ... also get BRS physio
for Biochem I would get Lippincot and do that along with Kaplan Biochem.
High Yeild Genetics is a very good book.
3rd Sem: THE OTHER AMAZING BOOK, Rapid Review Pathology ...
now here is my insider tip: look for Goljan Pathology with Brown/Red cover, this book is discontinued and I would say where 95% of students know about the blue Rapid Review, not that many know about the Red/Brown book. This book is THE book to buy. If for some reason u cant find it (its a very old edition) then go for the Blue Rapid Review Pathology by Goljan.
Micro and Immuno I would say Kaplan is perfect. Combine that with High Yield Immuno and ur set.
For Neuro I would say only High Yield Neuroanatomy by Jim Fix ... another must have book.
4th, for Pharm I'd say kaplan is all u need .
Thats all I can think about right now, if u have other book q's dont hesitate to ask. BUt definetly stay away from the long list of books that they say u must have, but u will never use. My gf bought ANY book that u can think of, and she had to give them away for free. so seriously some books are really not what ur looking for and dont spend money on them
