Thread: Clinical housing/elective hospitals/Usmle timing

1. Where do you live when you do your cores? If you have to move around 6 times or even just 3 or 4 (depending on if you land the hospitals you want & end up doing more than one core at any given hospital) how do you hold a lease anywhere, move furniture, etc...
2. Are the hospitals that are availble to us for our cores the same as the hospitals where we do our electives?
3. I start in May and am wondering how much time former May entering students had b/w leaving the island and taking step one and then starting cores? How much time does one need to study for step one, and can you enter rotations any time of the year after you take step one?

Hi Mark,
My advise is for you to call the clinical department and speak with Marc ******, Assistant Dean of Clinical Medicine and he will be happy to answer those questions. We are currently updating our student handbook for basic sciences that will include an overview of the clinical portion on students education.
