LGBT at St. Kitts UMHS/Windsor/Ross Vet

hello! I'm thinking about attending med school on St. Kitts this year and I'm wondering if they'll be any LGBT family on the island. I've read that the islanders themselves aren't exactly LGBT friendly, but since I will be studying the majority of the time, I'm not worried about that. It took a long time for me to come out and I just want to make sure it won't make my transition more difficult. Thanks!

I went to school in Nevis (sister Island of Kitts), and I can tell you that you will not have any problem. At my school (MUA), we had an open homosexual man who did not have any problem living in Nevis. It is true that the Island is not gay friendly, but they won't lynch you for being gay. You might be looked at differently (just like in the US), but I don;t think they will retain services to you because of your sexuality. I have seen few Lesbians and a gay guy in Nevis. Like the other said, your personality matters most. Stay away form trouble, and you will be just fine.
