Are MCATs required for transfer students? I am completing MD 1 at another school in the Carribean...does I still have to go thru the whole application process as a new student?

MCATs are not required. If you have taken them, we would like to see the results but they are not required in order to be admitted.
The admission process is the same for transferring students as it is for a new student. After you have applied or in the application essay, you can request advanced standing. Your application and transcripts would then be evaluated to see what course credits are transferable. If your application is accepted, your acceptanc letter would confirm your admission and the degree of advanced standing that you are being given. |

I don't think a dean of another medical school would be too enthusiastic about writing a letter for a student transferring out to a competing school; at least I don't think mine would. This could be a problem since I'm looking into UMHS for med 3.

If you ask your Dean and are denied a letter, request one from your President. I know that this sounds counterintuitive, but I am relatively sure that you can get one from him.
If you are unable to get one from either the Dean or President, PM me and we will work out another route through which yoou can get a letter of recommendation. |
