But when is it opening?

So I hear that Dr Ross is making another medical school in the Caribbean, but when is it actually opening?
Is it going to be recognised like Ross Univ., be WHO certified, good US/UK hospital rotations, allow USMLE/PLAB prep, etc

More news would be great!

Benesan: The University will be officially opening in January 2008. The government of St. Kitts is applying for WHO and ECFMG recognition presently; UMHS is in the process of establishing affiliations with teaching hospitals in the United States, and I expect they will all be ACGME-approved "greenbook" rotations. Thanks for your interest!

thanks, I just don't want to see this place end up like CMU. is there a danger that there are lots of new for-profit med schools opening up and whether they will influence gaining residencies in the US?

Mr Ross is at it again

I wonder how it will take for the students to try to burn down this place like they did on Dominica? Mr. Ross has a unique style of micromanagement or should we say micromismanagement. Starting a new school when Ross University was founded was relatively simple back then and you could treat students and faculty like dirt and get away with it. I doubt that will work with all the competition that is out there now. Wait and see people. The facilities are not complete so the curriculum is going to be taught out of order for the first classes.

Why do CEOs micromanage?
Often because they have experience, that when they delegate tasks to to 'others', they screw up!

People who run and nurture their own companies, see their businesses as an extention of their self, hence the passion for quality control and micromanagement. Its a good thing!

I have 2 questions... why are you casting aspersions on Dr. Ross? And do you think you are being fair?

Totally fair

I worked for Ross University and Mr. Ross in the early years. I call him Mr. Ross because he does not have an earned doctoral degree. Ross University never florished until N. Si---. took over operations. The president before Mr. N.S. took over was just a yes man. Why else would students try to burn down buildings.

What gives you the license to character assassinate a education visionary, hiding behind a anonymous id?

Old Federation of Foreign Medical School Forum

It is to bad that you can't read all of the old posts about Ross University on the old Federation of Foreign Medical Schools Forum or maybe you can and I just haven't figured out how. If you could you would get a real picture of how life really was at Ross University. I just hope that Mr. Ross hires someone with the capabilities of N. Si--- and allows that person to run the new school properly.
