I have not passed Step 1, but at this point can't go back to guad to do internado and social service. If I could knock off one year in the states that woulod be helpfull to me. My problem is I can't find a hospital in the usa that will allow me to do the internado year. Does anybody know of one?

Internado in the USA

You may be able if you approach the hospital about doing some rotations rather than using the word Internado. In this country the word Internado means residency which in Mexico isn't true. You may be able to do the Internado year in the States but you have to get clearance from the school first. The schiool should know hospitals that will take you for the Internado year.

Dude,
Thanx for your e-mail. It's nice to know that a fellow UAG student or grad (I don't know what applies to you) cares. I know about the global exam and was planning on taking it this october. I graduated back in 1996, and like I said had to take time off due to personal reasons. I also know of Rachel De La Rosa who sits in San Antonio.
I have contacted her but her response was that I can do Internado in the USA if I have Step 1. Unfortunately I don't have it yet and ECFMG is not letting me take the Step 1 until I get back enrolled in a program and finish my titulo. I also know that there are students like myself doing Internado in the states, but my ? to you is WHAT HOSPITALS??? I have asked a few and I literally get the phone hung up on me.
Do you know of any hospitals ? Can I do each clinical rotation in a different hospital ?: Will UAG go for this? What hospitals do you know were there are UAG students like myself doing rotations that count as Internado? I also called a few weeks ago Dr. Villaloboses office and Vicki his secretary told me pretty much that I would have to come back to Mexico and finish.
Let me know what you can
Thanx Dude

Internado

Since you graduated in 1996, you will need to take the Global Exam in order to be allowed to begin your Internado. Keep in mind that you will also need to give the hospitals that you are applying to (for Internado) an account of what you have been doing with your medical education since you graduated. Once you've been accepted to an Internado program, the UAG will certify your USMLE paperwork as a student of the UAG six year program.

I would recommend that you contact the UAG San Antonio office to obtain more information on beginning your Internado.

Internado in the US

I spoke with some friends of mine and they told me that some students were doing Internado in Chicago. I would imagine that San Antonio should be able to help you. They also said that you have to spend the whole year in the same hospital and the school would have to approve first before you could apply to the program(Internado in the US). I hope this help.
