US Citizen who failed boards twice. Need advise desperately.

Is there anything that I can do to get back into medical school after failing the boards twice? On both occasions I came within in 1 point of the passing score. (The second exam, the passing score was increased. I came within 1 point of the new passing score.)

A few current US doctors made the suggestion that perhaps I should consider attending a foreign medical school (as a possible option (since I never failed a class))
How would I do this? Would I have to take the MCAT's over and begin a new?? Since I am a US citizen would I have a harder time getting a US residencey? What is the 5th Pathway pgm all about?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

I am confused. Why can't you take the exam again? If you failed the exam by one point, it tells me that you have a great chance in passing the exam in the 3rd time. Why don't you take a review course? I am not sure if I fully understand your situation. Have you finished medical school in the US?? Some foreign schools will accept transfer students and may even accept your current MCAT scores depending how long ago you took them. You may find information about fifthpath at fifthpathway.com.

Best Regards,

UAGDoc

The Boards

I'm just a first semester student, but probably the circumstance is that you cannot advance to the next semester unless you have passed the boards, right? That is a new rule here at UAG. So....it would not do you any good to transfer here to advance to a subsequent semester and furthermore, UAG doesn't accept transfers, BUT I would agree with UAGdoc..........why not take it again? It seems unnecessary to start from the beginning again. If you cannot continue in your current program, I would definitely look to transfer somewhere else before starting over.

Does your school have a maximum time period to pass STEP I? Regards......
