If your GPA is decent and if there is an openig iin a Hospital there and you get it yes. Try asking the school first see waht they tell. Usually you have to get a letter from the Jefe the enzenanza from ISSSTE CD. juarez and some other letters too.
but internship and servicio social are a year long. I remember that they do have spots available in Chihuahua but I am not sure if they do in CD. Juarez. Tijuana they do for internship. Is a good hospital too. |

Re: SERVICIO SOCIAL
It's important to differ from mexican social service and the requirements fto obtain a titulo in the UAG.
The social service is only required if you have plans to practice in mexico, because you need this year of rural service (if any luck near a mayor city) to obtain your license to practice medicine (called "cedula profesional"). But if your plans are to practice outside of mexico, the only requirement is the intership in order to obtain your medical degree "titulo". Just comunicate this to the UAG and they will give you the titulo if you don't plan to practice in mexico. Hope to be of an assitance. |

servicio social
thanks for your USEFUL INFORMATION...ur simple response is worth A LOT TO ME...it is near certain that I will be studying medicine at Universidad Autonoma de Ciudad Juarez and they have an office dedicated towards foreign students, althought the curriculum is not in english. I hope that i can waive the Servicio social mexicano since i do not plan to practice in mexico. If this is really the case, then why doesn't UAG make it clear that the Servicio Social is optional and only required for mexican practice?
I think it is not optional since some states require that you be ABLE TO PRACTICE in the origin country, and without the Seguro social, then you cannot practice in mexico, although u get ur 'titulo'. Correct me if im wrong, this can be useful information to many students. |

Re: servicio social
I don't know the reason that the UAG doesn't post about the options of getting the "titulo" without the social service, but it's not a lie, because two close friends had plans to practice in mexico, but one of them got married and moved to Spain, so the UAG gave her the titulo. Because her plans changed to practice in Spain. So it is possible, you just have to get the appropied information form the UAG. ANd maybe these just applied to the UAG.
Maybe they don't inform because the mayority of foreign students are looking the fifth pathway, not the ECFMG certification. I really don't know, and maybe it changed since 2 years ao that I graduated UAG. ABout some states requiring to practice in the country of origin of your studies, I really don't have a clue, i'm sorry. But if that is the case, so yes, so would have to do the Servicio SOcial in order to get your license o "cedula profesiona", you can't escape that. A |

UAG
TTUmed, foreign grads from UAG do the 5th Pathway program instead of the 2 yrs. in Mexico. I graduated last yr from UAG.

Thanks for bringing this reference up and to our attention Jgonza31. If this is true, that the current UAG system doesn't require the social service for the titulo, this is another route that seems like it will definitely be more enticing to some students. Basically, the ECFMG certification would be the only addition for people that were planning to go to the fifth pathway anyway (they already wouldn't be able to practice in Mexico if they had gone to the fifth pathway, and it remains open as of now as the intern year).

if this is true, i find it to be a better option that 5th pathway. unlike 5PW, you would get a titulo and be ecfmg certified. since internado can be done in the US, it seems like a less espensive route as well.
maybe lalo can give us some insight.
