Spanish Required

I am interested in UAG and UNIBE. How much Spanish is required for UAG? I was told by the admission reps that clinicals start from day 1. So are you required to communicate with the locals in Spanish from day 1?

For those of you that did not have a previous knowledge of spanish. Can you fluently speak spanish after 2-3 years?

Thanks
Hibiscus

No you are not require to know spanish but by 4th. semester you are expected to know basic spanish at least. It would help a lot if you did learn the basics as soon as posible.

At least the words such as pain, name, age, address, occupation, fever, etc.

Good Luck!

That can help too!! jjajajja
It will take a couple months before you build inmunity to most bacterias that your body is not use to down there. But later on you will be able to eat anything without getting sick.

The water comes from the lake of chapala and from other natural resources around Guadalajara. But you can count on filter water. Trucks go by averyday throught the neighborhoods selling water. Just measure you buy it from a reliable source.

When it comes to food there is a lot of restaurants around UAG all of it is pretty good. Have fun!!

do not forget to try the tequila!!

jajajajaja

Well, who ever said that it is not necessary that you speak spanish til your 4th semester is lying to you. I remember my first semester, we had IPM class and we were made to feel incompetent because the class was entirely in spanish.

It must be the only class in spanish. Most doctors in IPM do not speak english. I remember everything being in English except for that class. Also with the patients the doctors there know you do not speak spanish therefore you are require to do all the paper work that the latino students have to do in IPM during first semester.
