Thread: Internado in Mexico

Does anyone have any advice on doing internado in MX? Especially interested in reviews of the hospitals including the private ones in GDL(ie. Centro Medico Puerto de Hierro), entrance exams, and hospitals outside of GDL. Also, does financial aid work the same way? Thanks.

yeah you still get financial aid. you have to take an entry exam for all the private hospitals. Generally speaking, private hospitals are more humane but you do less, whereas public hospitals you pretty much get free reign on the patients but the hours are pretty intense. Most places will give you a piddly stipend of USD$60 every two weeks or so.

Hi, Ameca is a good place to do internship but the guardias are ABC the whole year, the rent is very afordable. the stipend is 450 pesos every two weeks and two 1800 pesos bonuses during the year.
don't even think about driving to GDL since you need that driving time to rest instead.

Ameca, Tala, and Tepatitlan are great places to do the internado. Is best you live locally since after a Guardia the least you want to do is drive for hours. The advantage is that you will learn a lot!!!
