Congrats Cyndi!! I interviewed 6/5 and I just received an e-mail saying I was accepted =]
Soooo happy right now!!
See you guys in July!!
512 points Hey, everyone. I got my email and phone call yesterday inviting me for an interview. Now if I can just get the documents in and get a flight to San Antonio, I'll have only one thing left in my life causing me undo stress.
512 points And Congrats to both Rick and Cyndi. Maybe we'll all be classmates this fall.
516 points My friend and I are coming down, and we both just received our letters of recommendation. We are planning on traveling down from the Phoenix area sometime between the 20th and the 25th. We are both going down with families and are planning on hauling stuff down. If anyone else is coming from the phoenix area and might be looking to share in the cost of hauling stuff down, please let me know. I look forward to seeing you all down there in class!
510 points I've been in Mexico for some time now and if there are any students wishing more information feel free to message me. I also have a couch in my apartment if anyone needs a place to crash while they get situated here in Mexico.
510 points If anyone is staying in a hotel in GDL to look for housing, this hotel is half a block away from the ICB campus...

512 points Hey Everyone. I got my acceptance to the UAG and can't wait to start, but I was wondering (just wondering) does anyone know if there is anyway to defer my enrollment for the January class? I only ask because right now attending in August (really late July) would require me to try and rush to move from Philadelphia, take care of what things I can in California and then try and get situated in Mexico all in the span of like three weeks. I really don't want to defer, but it's looking like I may have to. Thanks for anyone who can help with this issue. - RT101
To those of you who are worried by all the negative comments you've read on the forums, unfortunately I have to say that most of it is true. HOWEVER if you have priorities in your life and are mature enough to discipline yourself you'll soon find this school isn't mission impossible. I'm starting 6th semester on monday, I've never repeated any courses, I've never taken time off to study for the step, I took my step1 at the end of 2nd year (like a normal medical student) and passed on my first attempt. Unfortunately I can't say I know many students who can say the same, but be aware that there are a few of us out there. My words of wisdom to you: instead of complaining every single day about the stuff that you will suffer down here (and make no mistake, you will suffer down here) focus that energy into going home every day and trying to learn the stuff you weren't taught through self study. Look for other resources, take one of those nifty usmle reviews during your vacation time or simply take advantage of the obscene amount of piracy that goes on down here and get a set of course videos. I'm not saying study during all your free time, just don't end up going to vallarta or cabo every other weekend (like so many end up doing...). But above all, never let anyone down here make you feel too miserable. Many people will try and convince you that you don't deserve to even be a doctor so prove them wrong and excel in your work. Never lose your focus and you'll reach your goals. Seriously! I'm halfway done with 3rd year and sometimes it feels like I moved down here last week!
Good luck!
