International Program or Latino ? Im Mexican living in Canada

New to this site please advice

    *Born and raised in Mexico
*Left Mexico at age 16th to study High School in California, Graduated in 1999. I didn't take Biology of Chemistry, stead i took life science and earth science which gave me the credits to be able to graduated. GPA in high school was 3.7

    * I'm now living in Vancouver Canada with permanent residency.
    * I would like to practice in Canada.

Should I apply to the international program or the latino one? I have a Mexican passport and a Canadian REsidency Card.

I'm guessing to ask for private or federal loans I would need the international program ???? Even do the BC website doesn't specify which program , it does mention UAG as an approved school for financial aid.

Whats the difference between both programs other that the first couple of years/semesters which are in english ?

Again i would like to practice in Canada. If the international program is the way to go , would i need a medical terminology course?

I guess for most you guys want spanish medical , i need english medical for the first couple of years/semester that are in English ???

    HELP ! ! ! ! ! Any others Canadians in the house ?????

The national program costs at 50% less then the international program.

You will have to check with the school on which program you can get into, call and ask them.

So either you have "family" money or you will have to get a loan from Canada or Mexico.
I have a friend in the same situation that was unable to get additional loans after starting the internation program and they had to leave the progtam.

    Good Luck with your studies.

For the International Program, I'm pretty sure you need a college degree and pre-med prerequisites. I think they can fudge a little on what would fall under that though. I got the assumption you didn't have a college degree, correct me if I'm wrong. Otherwise, the Latino option is the only one....unless I'm wrong and you just need the science courses and the MCAT. Someone closer to the process would know for sure. You could probably still get some sort of aid. I know Puerto Rico students did when they switched to the Latino program.

Practicing in the US isn't totally out of the question if you want to go the Latino route. It would be six years though. You'll learn the terminology quick enough if you study for the USMLE on your own and read English medical texts side by side. The International program is all in Spanish anyway the last two years.

I dont think u need a college degree for the international one , my friend couldn't get into UCLA and went to UAG back in the 80's so he cant give me much advice and he practices in the US and not Canada.

you said the international one last 2 yrs? can u explain or give more detail ?

I would only want to work in Mexico for a few years, from what I've read on these forums the the Mexican Program doesn't do the best job at preparing you for the UMSLE but it all depends on the effort you give it, and this is something I want like nothing else and exams are easy to me for some reason.

Also I read somewhere on here that tuition for the Mexican Program is $4,500/semester, but I am not sure if that's true and in what currency that is? could anybody confirm this?

Are PRONABES scholarships accepted at UAG?

My parents have money for me to attend college, but I will be working as an ESL teacher while I'm attending school to pay for a good portion of my studies.

I didn't mean they aren't doing there job I meant that if I take the Mexican Program their goal is not for me to pass the USMLE, sorry if there was a misunderstanding
