Thread: What should we wear in Guadalajara?

I did a lot of search and I cant find a thread for this.

What kind of clothes and shoes should we (male and female) wear or not wear in Guadalajara in general, not the school or classes. I heard that males should not wear sneakers and flip flops and shorts.

eh most of us are comfortable with wearing anything. some would say out of respect u shouldnt wear shorts and etc...but thats upto u ...if that bothers u not. it doesnt bother me how strangers perceive me, so i dont mind it lol.

however in gdl, females usually dress like they are going to club even though they are in grocery store and males usually are dressed casually [jeans tshirts...]...i dont know abt sneakers etc.

Hmmm... Who on earth told you that you can't wear shorts???
Upper class mexicans here dreses just like in the states. Shorts, snickers, dresses, tank tops, flip flops.... Just like back home!
Me, my hubby and other students wear all of the above and I've never gotten any bad looks.
If you wear tiny shorts up to your %%%%%, then you'll get the looks no matter where you are.
In the nice night club people dress a bit nicer than in a regular US night club.

Thank you for the replys. Its just I dont want to offend anyone while there and i dont want to stand out either. What about sleeveless?

lol its just fine. u r going to in one of the finest places in guadalajara...where u would find tons of modern rich people...u can wear basically anything..if anything u would probably be under dressed compared to general public here.

I wear sleeveless (muscles shirts) and shorts. There have been no problems so far. Just make sure you wear something =P

Sometimes after class, we think it is really cool to wear our whites.

Of course, in class, you need to follow the school's dress code.

I don't know if I should laugh, or cry!!!

Some of the students like to be "bad" and wear red or bright blue underwear beneath their whites, they are the "nonconforming" students.

Ha ha.. Thanks. I made that a few years ago during the Kaplan review class when the school went on a crusade to piss off the students. I only recently posted it though.
