Exerpts from the AMA policy compendium related to IMGs
AMA (Becoming an MD) The Fifth Pathway Program
Check it out the section under 5th Pathway. This document was updated on 02/08, is this something new or has been out there all along? It sounds to me they want the LCME US medical schools to do the evaluating of the 5th Pathway students. It makes too much sense to me. If these schools are good enough to police their on US grad students why can't they do the same with FMGs?

It was a little too subtle for me to see as that, but it is possible.

You are right, it was subtle but you have to agree with me that the content of the document was very different to the report from the AMA chairman.

My main point is if they updated this document in 02/08, they should have changed the language about the 5th PAthway program. The language of this document is in conflict with the AMA chairman report. I wasn't sure when the document 1st came out but I did noticed it was updated recently. My main point has been if the US medical schools are good enough to train and check on theri own students eligibility to residency why they are not good enough to monitor 5th Pathway students(NY medical College, Ponce and Mt Sinai).

I agree with you on both counts.
I do think that to expect anything locical, however, is being overly optimistic given that both that AMA and the UAG (both famous for not being logical) are involved. Quote:
