level of teaching for USMLE
from what i understand, there are a few profs who do teach board related material, such as the physio prof. From what my friends told me, here questions do compare with the boards. Some of the other profs do not teach for the boards. UAG should not have pushed students into clins until passing the boards. Many carrb schools use a filter exam(often called the comp) before students hit the exam. This exam is old board questions with comparable difficulty. Many schools such as ROSS, SGU, even NYMC uses this meathod

I could say a lot here about some of the classes, but I will refrain.
However, the one comment I will make is that when it comes to the USMLE, the ONLY class (thus far) I feel prepared me for that material was biochem. And I know this because I already started doing questions from the USMLE First Aid Question book (biochem section) and was able to answer most of them. This tells me that the information I received in this class was relative to what I might find on the USMLE. The ones I couldn't answer were things I needed to review, but they were at least familiar. The only other class I enjoyed was Nutrition (2 of the 3 visiting profs wasn't bad); the exam was comprehensive and I did well, but I cannot attest to its relativity to the USMLE studying - yet. I should also say that Anatomy, while a fairly comprehensive course, is obviously more doable with the anatomy lab and the anatomy videos. I believe you have to have all of it to do well and learn anatomy, another crucial part of medicine. This course seems to be more integrated on the USMLE. Quote:

Not a good idea. What you propose would be the worst of both worlds.
If the school does not prepare the students, and it does not give time for self study, and it "filters" the students, then the students lose. At least at the hospital there is continued learning that does seem to help students. Do not propose that the school make things worse than they are. Quote:

NOTICE Public floggings shall continue until morale improves. It is not possible to just add something in the middle of a curriculim and fix it. Especially if it involves more and increasingly difficult exams. You should not increase the difficulty of the exams until you have increased the efficacy of the instruction and materials. If you assign a new and improved text yet text the old lectures there is a disjoint. If you make daily quizes like the USMLE you will just breed discontent. You don't take the USMLE until you have been prepared. We are not short on USMLEs we are short on preparedness.
