Student gets into UF w no MCAT

and AMA think's fifth pathway is shady...please...

The son of a republican donor was accepted to UF college of medicine without having applied through AMCAS or taken the MCAT. The dean over-ruled the committee decision to reject the kid and instead berated faculty members for daring to oppose him. What a mess!

I have alway felt that in the USA the majority of medical students were "blue blood" from established parent doctors. The US medical schools all claim they accept students from disadvantaged backgrounds, but I have never seen one quark of proof of this. I will also bet Dr. M's right nut that this is not the first time someone has entered a US med school based on "who" they are, and not their abilities.

I assume there is more to the story, but still, I have no regrets bypassing that mierda and coming straight to the UAG.

Or maybe it was the color of your family's money.... or the wrong last name. Having brown skin should be a positive for you. At least that is what they tell the white people they reject. Surely they are not lying to everyone. That would be so wrong of such an upright group of doctors.

Txcorpsman: Well, they obviously hate the Navy at UF. That must have been it. =)

Kone said that he followed university precedent, "delivered a great student. Took many bullets for the team. Protected the mother ship."

What a shame. Does being a "great student" mean having political connections and money in this day and age?

There are probably hundreds, if not thousands of students who probably appealed to the Dean for an interview and did not get one. Why would this student be allowed to go against all the established rules and regulations of the college of medicine and be admitted?

Hopefully people at UF will speak up against this. Definitely shows a lack of integrity on the Dean's part.
