Current Students Questions
I spoke with a school official in San Antonio(due to valuemd tos I can't disclose the name of the official) for about 20 minutes. I was very impressed with the person's sympathetic attitude toward the current student situation. I was asked to have the current members from Valuemd to ask questions so they can post in a Q&A format the answers. They will post the official answers on their website and send a copy to us to post here. I will keep this thread open for a few days so we don't have to wait forever to get the answers.

Does the school plan to charge us the same for our classes now that, without the fifth pathway, are the same thing as the Latin students get for about 45% the price? Especially now that we have 2 more years of living expenses (although 2 years in Mexico is still half the cost of 5th pathway in NYC).

5th & 6th yr: Clinical Rotations
For our 5th and 6th year:
1) Can the 5th year (internado) be done in the US? If so, will this be done at a 5th PW sight (i.e NYMC, Mount Sinai) although the program is closed? 2) What U.S. hospitals/clinics that are in underserved US Latino communities can we do our servicio social (6th yr)? Do students need to recieve Mexican government and the school administration approval to complete the 6th yr in the US? |

1. Will the school finally be truthful and unbiased to finally add some qualifying language or a footnote stating that the option of doing the social service year in the US is subject to approval by the Secretaria de Salud (or some Mexican government entity) and is NOT a guarantee? I think the school has already crossed the line from spin to outright misinformation based on what's been written here making it seem that the entire international program doesn't have to stay in Mexico if they don't want to after year 3.
2. Is the school committed to assisting, through standard procedures already in place, students who wish to transfer, including a commitment for timely and accurate submission of transcripts and school records to other institutions? Thank you, UAGDoc, for acting as liason in this matter. |

Good questions. I will send all the questions off this weekend. Hexo, you are correct that the Social Service situation have to be approved by the Mexican government but I have never heard of anyone getting turned down by the Mexican government to do their Social Service outside of Mexico. I think students down in Guad can try to verify this information with the Mexican Social Service department.
