Fresh fruit is abundant. Mangoes, piña and banana with lime for breakfast is at the top of my list for healthier breakfasts in MX.

I would only buy breakfast ( beans, eggs and bread ) from the cafeteria. the first week in school I got severe diarrhea from chicken and fruits; I had to take antibiotics in order to stop the chorro

FOOD my favorite subject... yum

That is def. one thing I LOVE about GDL is the fresh fruit stands. I don't buy fruit from the cafeteria. Actually across the street from campus there's this AWESOME fruit stand where you get a full quart-size container filled with a ton of cut fruit (pinapple, papaya, jicama, watermelon, orange, or cucumber, you pick the combination) for like 15 pesos! (that's cheap, like under $1.50 and unlike the cafeteria, they are generous with their servings)

I find it most economic to buy your food at the grocery store and bring snacks or lunch to school. I love the cafeteria's pancakes ( 2 for 10 pesos or $1).

Other than that, for some variety, "San Francisco Salads" and "BioJugos Hawaii" both within walking distance from ICB campus (on Nova Scotia), offer yummy and reasonably priced items. My favorite are the "lonches."

I go to Super Salads on Patria (a little ways towards Vallarta from main campus) where you can get a panini and an awesome salad (you choose both! Awesome!) for $65-75. That's my massive veggie load for the week. And their juices are incredible.

And spiderchic, the lady will make banana pancakes for you if you ask!

I have never been too much of a nutrition freak but I can say the food here is healthy in comparison to the US. Junk food in the US can make you gain weight very easily. While I was at UAG, I lost 20 pounds. I gained them back in 3 weeks.....seriously! Even the tacos here are healthier than the US.

health issues

In addition to all the fast food and sweets, when latin cultures bring their cuisine to the US they seem to fry the food TOO MUCH!!!! My fiends will always go and eat at this dominican eatery called la carumba, I will not eat their to freq bc not only is the food deep fried, but also the amount of salt they add to the meat, its like someone went crazy with the salt, increased intake results in overdriniking in a short peroid of time which increases water weight
