Americans have it easy if you develope an ear for accents while in undergrad. We all have had many a professor or TA in the states with a thick Russian/German/Mandarin/Indian accent. You just get used to listening for ques in what they say.
however, the mexicans say the exact same thing about puerto rican spanish.

Actually there was a holiday and all had the day off on Thrusday.

Our class president then asked for Friday off to get a 4 day weekend.

So not much is happening this weekend. We are on a 4 day vacation.

But classes begin as usual on Monday with exams in some topics.

The forum seemed rather quite lately. I thought the school might have dissapeared.

Quiet yes, dead no. Remember, it's a 4-day weekend for us. So many will be dispersed between the beaches, bars, and beds of Mexico.

Yes, the school is alive and well. This is for sure. And the professors are still the same. Dr. Lozanno was at a first semester party two nights ago. We still get the same tests, some semesters get hammered more than others, a reason elections for president, at least in 1st semester should be held off for a few weeks. Chose wisely, it means the difference between Dr. Maltez loving or hating your class. Oddly enough though, Dra. Angeles loves us, which is more than I can say for the current 3rd semester class.

The wake of people fleeing the school though it has made apartment/house/furnishing hunting a lot easier. So that is definately an advantage for some.

Yes, some of us may be fools in the eyes of some for staying. But I myself wish to become a Doctor, and a little hardship will only make me stronger and better able to deal with the CRAP the US will inflict on us once we are there. I have chosen to ride the storm, at least until I have taken my Step 1, then we'll see where we are. After you've dealt with Mexican politics, US politics should be childsplay.

I'll stand a better chance of transfering with Step 1 scores under my belt. I have a loyalty issue with the school as well. I'm the third in my family to attend UAG.
