What are you all talking about?

The school is having classes every day.

I have friends who just went to Puerta Vallarta for two weeks guardias.

The school has not closed and it is a medical school.

When you get out you will be called Doctor by everyone just like any other school.

UAG is alive and well.

Cool My conclusion on 5th pathway

I am new to this forum and man am I confused I read this and I read that, and this person heard this and this person said that... Honestly its like viral promotion its all hear-say. I was actually reading the articles on the UAG website concerning the 5th pathway and every answer concerning what is happining is on there has anyone read the information. Has anyone considered that UAG had nothing to do with the decision the AMA it seems decided to close it with no legitimate reason.. What the 13,000 graduates they have are no good??? I think not someone would have closed UAG down with mal practice suits by now. UAG grads have been successful, all you have to do is ask for a graduate link up they well to you. As for the 5th pathway, uhhh they still have the ECFMG route.. Seems everyone forgets about this route. Oh I understand another year right.. Guess what you get more experience and possibly get chosen ahead of the match where you did your internship or social service. There is more than meets the eye. Information is out there we just have to find it and get it from legitimate sources not here say.

Eros, you hit the nail on the head.

Things are changing. They are in flux. But, they always have been.

When I arrived they were repaving the student walkway.

Then they rebuilt an entire bathroom that was much nicer than the others. Not that the others were awful.

Then UAG put in all new electronics suites in the lecture rooms.

This may just be the start of a new and better UAG experience.

As for your implicit question. The rate of malpractice suits against graduates of the 5th pathway program were below the national average. That may be that we are better or that we seem to choose lower risk specialties.

I think that a new era for UAG and Med schools in Mexico in general is starting.

When social service is abolished for paying students, at least, we will have saved tens of thousands on our medical education.

1. "I was actually reading the articles on the UAG website concerning the 5th pathway and every answer concerning what is happining is on there has anyone read the information." Is this a question, a statement, or two sentences slurred together? How can you know every answer is there? Do you even know what questions we have?

2. "uhhh they still have the ECFMG route.. Seems everyone forgets about this route. Oh I understand another year right.." As of now, it is not possible for eveyone here to qualify for the ECFMG route. Do more reading here.

3. "Guess what you get more experience and possibly get chosen ahead of the match where you did your internship or social service." Nice idea, but no one with loans can repay them working in Mexico. We have to work in the USA. Internship and social service have to be done in MX unless there is proof otherwise.

my point exactly but I was lazy to put in words. Read between the lines, it helps!

I dont think anyone on this thread is disputing the fact UAG has produced some great DOCs who have been practicing for many years in the US, my daughter and I both use a UAG doc for PC, both he and his wife are great to us and has a good rep. UAG did not diserve this however, the website does not say everything. First why did UAG post the info a month after the Jan 2008 started when they new about this in Oct 2007, some would believe they wanted the tuition. Also, the website says nothing about the meeting, I know there is a transcript around but that does not help prospective students. The extra year will require an extra year of tuition payments and many students had their grade school transcripts waved by UAG or the mex gov bc they did not have the proper documentation, my BF was one of those students

Kasha, stay with the tour and don't touch the exhibits.

I'll keep it simple.
UAG is still working on keeping one, fifth pathway, of three ways for students to get their Medical Liscence by atending a this Mexican Medical school.

They are MEXICAN. Don't forget that.
They really have no right to meddle in the affairs of the American Medical Association.
They are overstepping bounds to get the meetings that they had. And they are still working on solutions for their students.

Let me put it this way. UAG is like a high diver, he hears his call, jumps from the board and for a period of time he is in the air not for sure himself that his dive will be great or not. He will not know this until he hits the water.
The time we are in right now corresponds to the period right after the diver has left the board. And is hanging in mid air thinking about the work that has to be done.

Badgering him for interviews about how well his dive s going won't help.(It has barely started)
Giving bleecher-seat-coaching. Or, damning him for not explaing blow-by-blow what is going on in his mind every second as he plummets will only distract him. (he is in mid flight trying with all his faculties to make the right landing.)

Wait until it is all finished. He has made his dive. He has surfaced from the water. He has seen his scores. Then ask him questions.
